There’s a lot of noise in life.
Not just actual sound—but mental noise. Emotional noise. The constant pressure to keep up, do more, be better, and somehow hold everything together at the same time.
Work gets busy. The house gets messy. The kids have practice, games, appointments, homework, and activities. Your phone never stops buzzing. There are emails to answer, bills to pay, people depending on you, and responsibilities pulling you in ten different directions.
And somewhere in the middle of all of it, you sit down for five seconds and realize…
“It’s only Tuesday, and I already feel exhausted.”
We live in a world that constantly pushes us to keep moving. Social media doesn’t help either. You scroll through Instagram or TikTok and see people who seem to have perfect families, perfect routines, perfect homes, perfect vacations, and somehow they still have time to meal prep, work out, and smile through all of it.
Meanwhile, you’re just trying to remember if you drank coffee twice or forgot to eat lunch.
The noise gets loud.
And eventually, if we’re not careful, the noise around us starts becoming noise inside of us.
We become anxious.
Restless.
Overwhelmed.
Spiritually drained.
The problem is that many of us have become so used to the noise that silence feels uncomfortable. Slowing down feels wrong. Rest feels lazy. We keep running because we don’t know how to stop.
But God never designed us to live in constant chaos.
Psalm 46:10 says:
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
That verse sounds simple, but it’s difficult in a loud world.
Being still means intentionally slowing our hearts before God. It means stepping away from the pressure and remembering that our worth is not found in productivity, popularity, or perfection. Our identity is found in Christ.
Jesus Himself often stepped away from the crowds and noise to spend time alone with the Father.
In Mark 1:35, we read:
"And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed." (ESV)
If Jesus needed quiet time with the Father, how much more do we?
The truth is, noise will always compete for your attention. The world will always ask for more. But peace is found when we intentionally make room for God in the middle of the chaos.
Not when life becomes perfect.
Not when the schedule clears up.
Not when stress disappears.
Right here.
Right now.
Even in the noise.
Scripture to Remember
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” — Psalm 46:10 (ESV)
