Have you ever wondered if God is really there?
Maybe you've never said it out loud. Maybe you grew up in church and have always believed in God, but somewhere along the way you started asking questions. Or maybe you've never really believed at all.
You look around at the world and wonder: "How do I know any of this is real?"
How do I know God isn't just something people invented? How do I know the Bible is true? How do I know Jesus really existed? And how can I believe in something I can't see?
Those aren't stupid questions. They're important questions. And if you've ever wrestled with them, you're not alone.
The Bible doesn't tell us to turn off our brains and blindly believe. It invites us to seek. To examine. To listen. And ultimately, to know God.
One of the simplest places to start is creation itself. Look at the world around you. The universe. The complexity of life. The order we see in creation. The fact that we exist at all.
The Bible says in Romans 1:20: "For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made."
Creation doesn't answer every question we have about God. But it points beyond itself.
When you see a painting, you don't assume the paint accidentally arranged itself into a picture. When you see a building, you assume someone designed it. The Bible says creation gives us reason to look beyond what we can see.
There is another question worth asking: Why do we have a sense of right and wrong?
Why do we believe some things are truly good and other things are truly evil? Why does injustice bother us? Why do we instinctively believe that people have value? Why do we feel guilt when we do something wrong?
Genesis 1:27 tells us that humanity was created in the image of God. That means our value isn't something we invented. It comes from the One who created us.
The fact that we long for justice, goodness, love, and meaning points toward something bigger than ourselves.
We were made for more than simply existing. We were made to know our Creator.
But ultimately, Christianity isn't built on the idea that we can figure God out by looking at nature. God didn't leave us guessing.
He came to us. John 1:14 tells us: "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us."
Jesus is at the center of Christianity. If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus. Look at His compassion, at His holiness, at the way He treated people, at His miracles, look at His death, and look at the resurrection.
The Christian faith isn't simply: "Believe in God because someone told you to."
It is an invitation to examine the person of Jesus and ask: "Who is He?"
Because if Jesus really rose from the dead, everything changes.
Sometimes Christians act like having questions means your faith is weak. It doesn't. Faith isn't pretending you have every answer. Faith is trusting God with the answers you don't have yet. The disciples had questions, Thomas had questions, Job had questions, David had questions, and God didn't abandon them because they asked.
If you're wrestling with whether God is real, don't be afraid to seek.
Read the Gospels. Ask questions. Talk with mature Christians. Study the evidence. Pray honestly.
You don't have to pretend.
Maybe the most important thing to understand is that Christianity isn't ultimately about knowing about God. It's about knowing God.
Jesus said in John 17:3: "And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent."
God isn't hiding from you. He has revealed Himself through creation. Through Scripture. And most clearly, through Jesus.
The question isn't simply: "Can I prove God exists?"
The deeper question is: "Am I willing to seek Him?"
Because Jesus made a promise in Matthew 7:7: "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find."
If you're genuinely searching, don't stop. Keep asking. Keep seeking. Keep looking. Because the God you're searching for wants you to know Him.
If you're struggling with questions about whether God is real, don't be ashamed of where you are. Start somewhere. Open the Bible. Start with one of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John). Read about Jesus. Ask God to reveal Himself to you. And don't be afraid to bring your doubts into the light.
Sometimes the greatest step of faith isn't having all the answers. Sometimes it's simply being willing to ask the question.

Guided Prayer:
God, if we're honest, there are times when we have questions. Sometimes we wonder if You're really there. Sometimes we struggle to understand how we can know You are real. Help us not to be afraid of those questions. Give us a heart that seeks truth and a willingness to follow where that truth leads. Help us see You through creation, through Your Word, and most clearly through Jesus. For those who are searching, meet them where they are. For those who believe, strengthen their faith. And for all of us, help us know You—not just know about You. Amen.
