FEARLESS: Part 5 - Fearless in the Gospel

Published on 5 May 2025 at 19:02

We’re back with Part 5 of our FEARLESS series, and this one brings the fire. The early church wasn’t built on convenience, comfort, or casual faith. It was built by bold believers who preached Jesus even when it wasn’t safe.

And in Acts 4, we meet a group of apostles who were arrested, threatened, and told to stop speaking in the name of Jesus. Their response?

“We cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.”

(Acts 4:20, ESV)

Talk about fearless.

When Faith Meets Resistance

Peter and John weren’t out causing trouble—they were healing the sick, preaching Jesus, and pointing people to truth. But when that truth made people uncomfortable, they got dragged into court and told to keep quiet.

Instead of backing down, they prayed for boldness.

They didn’t pray for safety. They asked for strength.

They didn’t water down the message. They stood firm in the gospel.

They didn’t retreat. They advanced—with the Holy Spirit filling them with even more courage.

What Fearless Faith Looks Like

Fearless faith means being so gripped by the truth of the gospel that you can’t stay quiet—even when it’s costly.

This world doesn’t need a silent church. It needs a bold one.

Fear Factor: What’s Holding You Back?

Let’s be real:

Have you ever hesitated to talk about your faith out loud?

Maybe it’s fear of rejection, judgment, or stirring the pot.

Maybe you’re worried you won’t say it “right.”

But here’s the truth: God uses ordinary people with imperfect words to do extraordinary things when they’re willing to stand firm.

Reflection Questions:

• Have you been silent where God is calling you to speak up?

• What would it look like to be more fearless with your faith this week?

• Are you praying for comfort—or for courage?

Fearless Challenge:

Ask God today for boldness to speak the truth in love. Whether it’s sharing the gospel, standing for what’s right, or simply living out your faith more visibly—don’t shrink back. The world needs what’s in you.

Bonus Thought: When they prayed for boldness, the place they were meeting shook. What if God wants to shake things up through you?
